No — the Duo will function the same even if it looks “flipped” (for example, with the logo facing the wall). The key is that each filter sits on its correct side:

• Blue side: White sediment filter with the blue top

• Red side: Black carbon filter with the red top

As long as the filters are in their proper sides, the Duo works as intended. The only installation requirement is that it must be installed top-down — water should enter through the top and exit from the bottom.
